Organizers of the Burning Man festival reported losses due to strong winds

  • The iconic "Cup" at the Burning Man festival was destroyed by wind.
  • During the storm, several tents and participants were damaged.
  • The organizers hope to hold master classes instead of the planned events.

During the Burning Man festival, which takes place in the Black Rock desert, strong winds destroyed what is known as the "Iconic Cup." This structure, which appears as a large tent, was a popular spot for festival-goers, but the storm left it with no chances of survival.

The festival started on September 27, 2025, but on its very first day, strong winds with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour caused chaos among participants. The organizers stated that "our team worked hard to restore our beautiful space, but the winds destroyed all the efforts."

As a result of the storm, several tents and temporary structures were also damaged, and four individuals suffered significant injuries from flying debris. Festival-goers were advised to seek shelter and temporarily repair their tents.

On the following day, after the destruction of the Iconic Cup, the organizers announced the possibility of further adverse weather conditions, including an impending storm.

In addition, festival participants were prohibited from traveling to Black Rock City due to closed roads, while the organizers hoped to hold several master classes instead of the planned events in the Cup. Despite the weather challenges, the number of festival attendees this year exceeds 70,000.

This storm has already become the third major incident in the last four years that has impacted the festival.
