Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko held a meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen during a working visit to Denmark. The main topic of discussion was the European integration of Ukraine and support for the national defense industry.
Svyrydenko noted that Ukraine is ready to begin negotiations with the European Union, having opened the first three negotiation clusters. She emphasized that this will be an important signal for Ukrainians about the irreversible course of European integration of the country.
The Prime Minister also discussed with Frederiksen issues of security guarantees for Ukraine. She stressed that Ukraine's position remains unchanged: no territorial concessions or limitations on sovereignty.
Frederiksen confirmed that Denmark will continue to support Ukraine on its path to the EU and strengthen its defense capabilities. One of the key initiatives is the Danish model of financing, which combines state funds, international contributions, and direct orders from the Ukrainian defense industry.
This model, which was implemented in 2024, allows for the start of purchasing defense products from foreign manufacturers, which strengthens Ukraine's defense capabilities and supports its economy. For example, thanks to this model, production of essential weaponry, including self-propelled artillery systems, has been financed.
In total, according to the Danish model, more than $500 million has been allocated from $1.5 billion earmarked for supporting Ukraine's defense sector. The implementation of this model is an effective mechanism for assistance, realized through two formats: via partner funds or through the seizure of Russian assets.
