UAE Team Emirates Wins Stage of Vuelta, Vingegaard Again Becomes Leader

The UAE Team Emirates demonstrated excellent teamwork during the central-time trial at the fifth stage of the Vuelta, which took place on August 27 in Figueras. They achieved victory, posting a time of 25 minutes and 26 seconds, which surpassed the result of the Visma-Lease a bike team, who finished second by 7 seconds.

Thanks to this victory, Jonas Vingegaard once again became the overall leader. He received the red jersey after previously being in the lead, which had been held by David Gaudu, who is now in sixth place, trailing Vingegaard by 16 seconds. Changes in the overall standings also affected other UAE team riders, such as Juan Ayuso, João Almeida, and Mark Soler, who moved up in the rankings.

During the stage, two French teams also made it into the top 10: Décathlon AG2R in seventh place and Groupama-FDJ in ninth. Last year, Gaudu was satisfied with his performance despite losing the red jersey, stating that it was one of the best moments of his career.

The Vuelta continues on August 28 with the sixth stage, which will take place from Olot to Pal-Andorra.
