Zelensky Appoints Cherevashenko as Commander of Unmanned Systems

On November 7, 2025, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky approved the appointment of Colonel Yuriy Cherevashenko as the commander of unmanned air defense systems of the Air Force and deputy commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The relevant order was signed by Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal. Zelensky noted that the new commander will face significant tasks, including the active integration of unmanned systems, especially interceptors, and enhancing the capabilities of air defense using modern systems.
Cherevashenko participated in the establishment of the first mobile rapid response brigades for air defense and recently worked with interceptors. In his new position, he is expected to develop the unmanned component in the structure of the Air Force.
As reported, the 412th separate regiment of unmanned systems of the Armed Forces has been expanded to a brigade, which indicates the increasing role of unmanned technologies in the Ukrainian armed forces.
