- 71% of households expect an increase in unemployment.
Consumer sentiment in the USA fell to a three-year low in November 2025 due to a protracted government crisis. According to survey data conducted by the University of Michigan, the consumer sentiment index dropped to 50.3, which is 6% lower than in October, when it stood at 53.6. This figure is the lowest since June 2022.
Along with the survey, the decline in sentiment was noted by people of various ages, incomes, and political views. The main reasons for the recorded decline are related to potential negative consequences for the economy due to the delay in government data release, such as news about employment.
Currently, large tech companies, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence, have shown significant growth, positively impacting investors. Sales are projected to increase by 4.2% during the holidays in November and December.
Expectations regarding inflation have also risen: in November, it reached 4.7%, compared to 4.6% in October. Currently, 71% of households expect an increase in unemployment in the coming year.
