Lando Norris has taken pole for the sprint race of the São Paulo Grand Prix, edging out Kimi Räikkönen by 0.097 seconds.
Norris, who was recently crowned champion after winning in Mexico, is the first on the starting grid, giving him the opportunity to extend his lead over reigning champion Oscar Piastri, who finished third.
Piastri trails Norris by just one point, but has the chance to earn points in the sprint, which starts at 14:00 GMT.
Max Verstappen, who is currently in sixth place, trails Norris by 36 points and is struggling with setup issues on his car.
Lewis Hamilton, who has strong support in Brazil, could not improve his qualifying position and will start from 11th.
Rain is expected on Saturday, which could impact the race. Norris expressed satisfaction with his qualifying result, noting that it was a challenging process.
