In light of the rising prices for beef, which reached record levels, Trump tried to divert attention from the criticism that arose after his proposal to import beef from Argentina to lower prices.

Prices for beef increased by 12.9% over the year, while the price of steak rose by 16.6%. This occurred against a backdrop of declining supplies of large cattle in the U.S., which reached the lowest level in decades due to drought and other factors. Trump stated that foreign meatpacking companies must be held accountable for providing American farmers with a fair price for their products.

Various experts from the industry expressed doubts about whether the investigation would lead to lower prices for beef, given that the market is already facing serious challenges, such as high demand and limited supply. Four major companies control over 80% of the beef processing market in the U.S., which creates a stubbornness among farmers and politicians.
