Thomas Tuchel Open to Contract Extension with England
- Tuchel is open to extending his contract after the World Cup.
- He emphasized that results in the tournament are not the only criterion for evaluating his work.
- He feels support and energy from working with the players.
Thomas Tuchel, the head coach of the England national team, stated the possibility of extending his contract after the 2026 World Cup. He noted that his future does not solely depend on the team's success in the tournament.
Tuchel, who had the opportunity to return to the coaching staff of Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden, signed an agreement with the Football Association last June, which runs until the end of the World Cup. This agreement was a brief arrangement, yet the coach acknowledged that working in England has given him new strengths after difficult periods at Bayern and Chelsea.
After announcing the squad for matches against Serbia and Albania, Tuchel mentioned that discussions about extending the contract are possible, but he is not planning to focus on this issue before important matches. He believes that decisions regarding the extension of the agreement should not solely be based on the results of the World Cup.
Tuchel emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on the game and noted that regardless of how the team performs, it is important how they play. "Experience shows that results can vary, and it is important not only how we exit the tournament but also how we play," he said.
In addition, Tuchel noted that he continues to work with the players and feels support from the federation, which helps him feel good in this role. He does not rule out the possibility of signing a new contract for the tournament, but he stated that this is not a requirement on his part.
