On Friday in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, several explosions occurred at a mosque located within the premises of a school complex, resulting in at least 54 injuries. According to local police, the majority of the injured are school students.

Police spokesperson Asep Edi Suheri stated that the injuries vary from minor to serious, and some patients have already been discharged from the hospital. According to the hospital, the operation involved a 17-year-old suspect, who is referred to as the perpetrator in the incident. According to information, he is a student of the same school and may have become a victim of bullying, which could be the reason for his actions.

Witnesses reported that the explosions occurred around noon during the prayer time. They heard two loud explosions that took place inside and outside the mosque. The scene was cordoned off by the police for an investigation, and the bomb disposal unit is working at the site.

The police have not disclosed the reasons for the explosions yet. Deputy Minister of Security Lordveik Friedrich Paulus declined to comment on the details, stating that the investigation is ongoing.

This incident occurred a few weeks after the bombing of a building at an Islamic school, which resulted in the deaths of at least 60 people.
