Trump's Products Appear in U.S. Coast Guard Stores
- Trump's wine has become available in the Coast Guard stores in the U.S.
- This incident has raised ethical questions regarding the president's business.
- The products are sold tax-free for military personnel.
The wine, which belongs to President Donald Trump, is now available in stores managed by the U.S. Coast Guard in Washington and Virginia. This has sparked new ethical questions concerning business interests of the first family, reports The Independent.
The Coast Guard stores, which promote tax-free purchases for military personnel and their families, have started selling Trump wine and cider, along with information from Forbes. This information was first reported by an anonymous source working in the counter-terrorism division of the Department of Homeland Security.
Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Trisha Macfarlane confirmed that the products are sold in stores, noting that "men and women of the Coast Guard are allowed to buy Trump wine and cider tax-free."
This incident raises questions about the ethics of selling products associated with the president in government establishments. As Jordan Libowitz from the organization Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington stated, "it potentially has legal problems, but it raises ethical questions too."
Trump, who himself does not consume alcohol, owns a business that is valued at 44 million dollars. It is known that his businesses actively capitalize on the president's opportunities to earn profit, including through the sale of products in stores linked to the government.
These sales raise questions about possible violations of the Constitution, including regarding the prohibition on receiving benefits from government contracts, aside from salaries.
