Repair of the Ferrisland-1 line for ZAES begins on Saturday
- The repair of the Ferrisland-1 line will start on November 8.
- Local restrictions on the use of fire allow for the work to be carried out.
- ZAES has gained access to two lines of electricity transmission.
This was reported by Interfax Ukraine, Ukrinform.
Specialists plan to start repairs to restore the connection of the Ferrisland-1 line with the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZAES) on Saturday, reported the general director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi.
Repair work will begin within the framework of temporary local restrictions on the use of fire, which were coordinated by the IAEA to ensure the safety of the repair of the damaged electricity transmission line. This decision became possible after intensive consultations with the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
The Ferrisland-1 line, which had been disconnected for six months, is a reserve source of electricity for ZAES. After restoring the connection, the station gains access to two lines of electricity transmission, which is important for preventing a nuclear accident.
It is reminded that earlier, on July 23, the supply of electricity through the main line Dniprovska was interrupted, which had been disconnected since September 23. ZAES had been without electricity for about a month, and all six reactors remain in a cold shutdown state.
The IAEA team, which remains at the station, will monitor the progress of the new repair works.
