Israeli forces reported that the Red Cross transferred the remains of the hostage, which had been moved to Israel on Friday. This happened a few hours after the funeral of an Israeli-American soldier, whose body was returned earlier this week. Since the beginning of the ceasefire agreement regarding the hostage situation, Hamas returned the bodies of 22 hostages.
Under the agreement, Israel transferred the bodies of 285 Palestinians, but only 84 of them were identified. The absence of DNA laboratories in Gaza complicates the identification process.
The last transfer of remains is a sign of progress within the framework of the ceasefire agreement, but humanitarian supplies are still insufficient for the needs of Palestinians in Gaza. According to a UN representative, only 37 thousand tons of humanitarian aid from 200 thousand tons, which are ready for dispatch, were allowed into Gaza.
Funeral of an Israeli-American Soldier
Hundreds attended the funeral of Captain Omer Neitri, who was killed in the Hamas attack. His parents have been trying for a year to find information about their son, hoping that he is still alive.
Attacks by Israeli Settlements on Palestinians Increased
In connection with the rising racism in Western Berez, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that in September, 264 attacks by Israeli settlements on Palestinians were recorded, which is a record number since 2006. This means an average of eight incidents per day.
Since the beginning of 2025, 42 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli forces in Western Berez, which accounts for one-fifth of all reported Palestinian fatalities.
Racism against Palestinians has intensified, despite the ceasefire agreement regarding the hostage situation in Gaza, which has reduced combat operations.
