In Louisville, Kentucky, a UPS cargo plane crash occurred, resulting in the deaths of three pilots and at least ten civilians. The MD-11 aircraft broke apart during descent from Muhammad Ali International Airport on November 7, 2025. The pilots who died include Captain Richard Vartenberg, second pilot Lee Truitt, and Captain of international assistance Dana Daimond.
Among the victims of the crash was also a 3-year-old girl, Kimberly Asa, and her grandfather, Luenes Fedon, who were reported missing in the area where the plane went down. Fedon worked for UPS and was known for his kindness and charisma.
As a result of the crash, at least 13 people were confirmed dead, while another nine are considered missing, including the young mother, Megan Washburn, who did not show up for work on the day of the accident.
At the crash site, a rescue operation was underway, during which rescuers attempted to locate and identify the victims. The plane that crashed was loaded with 38,000 gallons of fuel, and its descent caused explosions in two buildings, including a UPS warehouse.
At this moment, the causes of the crash are being established by the National Transportation Safety Board, which is also investigating the circumstances surrounding the plane's descent and technical condition.
