Lorenzo Musetti (9th in the world) reached the ATP 250 final in Athens, defeating Sebastian Korda (52nd) in a tense battle with a score of 6-0, 5-7, 7-5. The match lasted nearly 2 hours and 30 minutes. In the first set, Musetti dominated, winning it 6-0, but in the second set, he couldn't maintain his lead.
Korda managed to make a comeback, winning the second set, but in the third set, the players exchanged breaks, leading to a score of 5-4 when Musetti saved a match point on his serve, winning the last three games.
In the final, he will face Novak Djokovic (5th), who previously defeated Jannik Sinner. This match holds great significance for both players: Musetti is aiming to secure his first title since 2022, while Djokovic is seeking to claim his 101st title.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo Sonego (39th in the world) played in the semifinals of the tournament in Metz, defeating Cameron Norrie with a score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Despite the loss, he will finish the year in the top 40 of the world ranking.
In the event of Musetti's victory in the final, he may meet Jannik Sinner at the ATP Finals, which starts on November 10.
