Investigation into Russian Interference in Trump Campaign Continues
- The U.S. Department of Justice has launched a new investigation into Russian interference.

- Trump continues to criticize the investigation into his campaign.
Washington — The U.S. Department of Justice has started a new investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, related to Donald Trump's campaign. As part of this investigation, a series of subpoenas have been issued, pertaining to information about the assessment of the Obama administration's intelligence community, published in January 2017.
This assessment described how Russia conducted a covert campaign to aid Trump in the fight against Hillary Clinton. The subpoenas, issued from the Southern District of Florida, demand documents from the period from July 2016 to February 2017.
Among those who received subpoenas are former CIA Director John Brennan, as well as Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, former FBI employees who were involved in the investigation. This new investigation has sparked renewed activity from Trump, who is reportedly looking to verify the legality of the investigators' actions.
Evidence gathered by former special counsel Robert Mueller indicated that Russia interfered in the election, but did not establish collusion between Russian operatives and Trump's campaign. Trump has repeatedly criticized the investigation, asserting that the information contained in "the findings of the investigation" is unfounded.
