- The ECO program may be cut, which would affect underprivileged households.
Experts and organizations in Ukraine are urging the government not to cut funding for building insulation in the 2025 budget. They believe that such actions could undermine the country's climate goals and worsen the situation for underprivileged households.
More than 60 energy companies, charitable organizations, and ecological groups have signed a letter to the Minister of Finance, Reichel Rivz, in which they warn that cutting funding for energy efficiency programs will lead to an increase in the number of households suffering from energy poverty.
According to the information, the government is considering the possibility of reducing or canceling the ECO energy efficiency program, which finances improvements in energy efficiency for vulnerable segments of the population. This could lead to the loss of thousands of jobs in the energy efficiency sector.
There is also an initiative to reduce green tariffs, which finance energy efficiency programs, which has drawn criticism from experts who believe that this negatively impacts the decarbonization process.
The Department of Energy Security and Zero Emission Initiatives stated that the government reserves the right not to comment on the changes in the tax policy, but emphasized that their mission is to ensure a reduction in electricity consumption for the population.
