Weather may impact the sprint and qualifying of the Brazilian Grand Prix

  • A storm may disrupt the schedule of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
  • Weather forecasts have improved, chances of rain have decreased.
  • Qualifying may be postponed to Sunday in case of delays.

Reports this from ESPN, L'Équipe.

In São Paulo, a strong storm is expected, which could impact the schedule of the Brazilian Grand Prix. The National Institute of Meteorology of Brazil has issued a warning about the storm, predicting heavy rain and strong winds.

Heavy rainfall may last throughout the day when the sprint is scheduled for 11:00 local time, while qualifying for the Sunday Grand Prix will take place at 15:00. According to FIA information, the most intense weather is expected between 6 and 9 in the morning, but forecasts may change.

Delay of the sprint may affect the start time of the qualifying session. The end of the curfew for teams is scheduled for 6:30 AM, which coincides with the worst weather conditions. Teams are advised to secure garages to minimize negative impacts from the weather.

As of the morning of November 8, forecasts have improved, and chances of rain have decreased to 40%. Winds are expected to reach 60 km/h, but the FIA plan may, hopefully, not be disrupted, and the day will proceed without significant interruptions.

In case of significant delays, qualifying may be moved to Sunday, as was the case in 2019 during the typhoon in Japan.
