Russia Attacks Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure

  • Russian attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least four people.
  • Zelensky called for new sanctions against Russia.
  • The energy infrastructure has been damaged in several regions of Ukraine.

On November 8, Russia again launched massive strikes on Ukraine, using over 450 missiles and 45 drones. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, confirmed that as a result of the attack, at least four people were killed, and 12 were injured.

One of the attacks occurred in Dnipro, where a drone hit a residential building, resulting in one person being killed, while 11 others, including children, were injured. Similar casualties were reported in the Kharkiv region. Government agencies report damage to the energy infrastructure in Kyiv, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions.

Zelensky called for enhanced sanctions against Russia, stating that for every strike on energy infrastructure there should be a sanctioned reaction. In response to the attacks, Ukrainian energy companies are actively working on restoring electricity, water, and heating.

Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy sector have increased, as both sides have focused on the destruction of energy infrastructure, which impacts the economy and the population. Despite calls for increased assistance from the U.S., negotiations for a peace agreement remain stalled.
