SAN FRANCISCO, California — In the match that took place on November 24, 2025, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Carolina Panthers with a score of 20-9. The key figure on the field was Christian McCaffrey, who in his first match against the former team rushed for 142 yards and scored one touchdown.
McCaffrey helped the 49ers (8-4) overcome three interceptions, made by quarterback Brock Purdy in the first half of the game, preserving their chances for the playoffs. At the same time, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young (6-6) struggled to score with his opportunities, finishing the game with 169 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
In the second half, the 49ers focused on a conservative strategy, primarily relying on McCaffrey and short passes. He scored a touchdown on a 12-yard run, which allowed the team to go ahead 17-3, and then three more points were added from the field.
Young managed to complete one big pass for 29 yards to Tetyar McMillan, but the Panthers could not capitalize on the two-point conversion. The final blow for Young was the second interception by D.J. Brown, when the team was in the red zone.
McCaffrey finished the game with 89 yards on the ground and 53 yards receiving, marking his tenth game with 100 yards this season, with two games left to break the club record set in 2023. The 49ers started the game by handing the ball to McCaffrey in the first five plays, which led to the first touchdown of the season against the Panthers.
