Pakistan Conducts Airstrikes in Afghanistan, Killing Ten People
- Pakistan's airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of ten civilians in Afghanistan.
- The attack in Peshawar occurred on the same day as the airstrikes.
- Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan are worsening due to escalating violence.
On November 25, 2025, the Taliban accused Pakistan of conducting airstrikes that resulted in the deaths of ten civilians, including nine children, in the northern provinces of Afghanistan. According to Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Afghan government, the airstrikes took place in Khost province, where nine children and one woman were killed. Additional strikes were confirmed in the provinces of Kunar and Paktika, resulting in the deaths of four more civilians.
These incidents occurred a day after a terrorist attack in Pakistan's Peshawar, which resulted in the deaths of three officers and eleven others receiving injuries. No group has claimed responsibility for this attack, but suspicions have fallen on Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, which is closely linked to the Afghan Taliban.
The Pakistani government did not comment on the accusations that emerged a month after the emergence of tensions along the border, when the Afghan government accused Pakistan of conducting drone strikes in Kabul.
Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have deteriorated since the Taliban regained power in 2021, particularly due to record-high incidents that resulted in the deaths of nearly 70 people in July. The prime minister was invited to mediation by Qatar, but subsequent negotiations in Istanbul did not result in a resolution of the conflict.
