Jesse Jackson, a veteran civil rights activist in the U.S., was discharged from the hospital in Chicago after two days of treatment. His family confirmed that the 84-year-old activist is in stable condition following his discharge from Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Jackson was hospitalized on December 12, when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease progressing to supranuclear palsy (PSP), which is a rare neurodegenerative disorder. His son and family representative, Yusef Jackson, thanked everyone for their prayers and support, stating that their father remains active and continues to share his ideas.
Although Jackson is no longer in treatment, he will remain under the care of doctors in the hospital. PSP affects body movement, walking, and balance, and typically, symptoms tend to manifest in people over the age of 60.
