Lorenzo Buffon, one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of Italian football, passed away on November 25, 2025, in Latisana, Udine region, in northeastern Italy. He was 95 years old. He was born on December 19, 1929, and began his career at the club "Porto Turras" and in 1949 moved to "Milan".

For ten years at the club "Milan", Buffon won four Scudetti (1951, 1955, 1957, 1959) and two Latin Cups (1951, 1956). After 300 official matches for "Milan", he played for "Genoa", and later for "Inter", with which he won another Scudetto in 1963. His career continued at "Fiorentina", and he finished at "Ivrea" in 1964-1965.

Captain of the Italian national team at the World Cup

Lorenzo Buffon played 15 matches for the Italian national team, starting with a game against France in November 1958. He was the captain in his last six matches, including the last two at the World Cup in 1962 in Chile.
