According to the Kolorado State Patrol, the driver of a black Toyota hatchback lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and then collided with a northbound Ford sedan. After that, the Toyota collided with another Ford pickup.

The driver of the Toyota, who was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford sedan and three of the five children in the vehicle also died at the scene. Two other children were transported to the nearest medical facility, but their condition was not disclosed. The driver of the pickup was uninjured.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and the coroner of Douglas County will provide information about the deceased once all relatives have been notified. Highway 83 remains closed in connection with the investigation and cleanup.
