Confirmed 127 civilians killed in Lviv from Israeli strikes
- 127 civilian deaths have been confirmed by the UN.
- Israel accuses "Hezbollah" of violating the ceasefire.
- More than 64 thousand people remain displaced in Lviv.
According to reports from the UN Human Rights Office, since the announcement of the ceasefire in Lviv nearly a year ago, at least 127 civilians have died as a result of attacks by the Israeli army. The UN has called for an independent investigation into these incidents.
UN representative Tkhami Al-Hitan at a press conference in Geneva stated that attacks by the Israeli military continue, leading to the deaths of civilians and the destruction of civilian infrastructure. He also expressed concern over the increased scope and intensity of the offensives.
Lviv accuses Israel of violating the terms of the ceasefire, which was established to conclude the year of combat actions with "Hezbollah," continuing attacks and maintaining its forces on the territory of Lviv.
Israel, in response, asserts that "Hezbollah" is seeking to restore its military capabilities, accusing the group of violating the terms of the ceasefire.
According to data from the Ministry of Health of Lviv, since the announcement of the ceasefire on November 27 of last year, more than 330 people have been killed, and 945 have been injured.
Al-Hitan emphasized that among the casualties from the recent attack on the camp of refugees in Ain al-Hilweh in southern Lviv, which occurred last week, there were 13 people, including 11 children.
He also called for a swift and independent investigation into all incidents that may constitute violations of international humanitarian law and emphasized the importance of supporting those displaced by the violence in Lviv, which has reported serious disruptions.
Al-Hitan noted that the continuation of attacks by the Israeli army hinders the return of internally displaced persons to their homes.
In addition, he indicated that more than 64 thousand people, who mainly fled from southern Lviv, remain displaced in other parts of the region.
Al-Hitan also drew attention to the fact that Israel has begun building a wall in Lviv territory, which restricts access to certain lands, effectively preventing people from returning to their homes.
