The Remains of One of the Hostages Were Transferred to the Red Cross
- The Red Cross received the remains of the deceased hostage.
- The delay in the transfer of bodies was recorded by Israel.
- The agreement on the cessation of hostilities includes threats through a public process.
The Red Cross received from Palestinian groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad (PIJ) the remains of one of the last three deceased hostages who remain in Gaza. This occurred on November 25, 2025.
According to information from Israeli military sources, the remains will be transferred by Israeli forces for further identification at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv.
Earlier, the Islamic Jihad announced that the body of the Israeli hostage was found in central Gaza. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed concern over the delay in the transfer of remains, considering this a violation of the agreement on the cessation of hostilities.
According to the first phase of the agreement on the cessation of hostilities, mediated by the United States, Hamas promised to return 20 living Israeli hostages and the bodies of 28 deceased within 72 hours. All living hostages were released on July 13 in exchange for 250 Palestinian prisoners.
At this point, the remains of 22 deceased Israeli hostages and three foreigners have been transferred: one Thai, one Nepali, and one Tanzanian. In total, Israel returned the bodies of 330 Palestinians.
Two of the three deceased hostages are Israelis, one is Thai. Israel accuses Hamas of the hostage's death during the reported transfer of bodies, while Hamas claims that this was due to the collapse of buildings during searches under the rubble.
The delay in the return of the remains threatens the future development of the agreement on peace in Gaza, including the question of territorial management and the disarmament of Hamas.
