Spotify plans to raise subscription prices in the USA in the first quarter of next year. This will be the first price increase in the USA since July 2024. Currently, a subscription to Spotify costs $11.99 per month, while at the launch in the USA 14 years ago, the price was $9.99.
According to information, analysts from JPMorgan estimate that a current price increase of $1 could increase Spotify's annual revenue by approximately $500 million. Similarly, major record companies are urging Spotify to raise prices, indicating that the rates do not reflect inflation.
Recently, Spotify announced the appointment of new co-directors, while the company's founder, Daniel Ek, remains in his position. The new executives are Gustav Söderström and Alex Norström.
Spotify has already raised prices for subscriptions in other regions, including the UK and Australia. According to new data, the price of the Premium plan in the USA could rise to $14 per month to match prices in other countries.
