- Campbell's Soup leader Martin Balle made vivid comments about the product.
- Robert Garza filed a lawsuit after being fired for his comments about Balle.
- The company suspended Balle and is conducting an investigation into the matter.
The leader of Campbell's Soup, Martin Balle, was recorded during a lengthy conversation where he, according to reports, expressed negative views about the company's product, calling it "s*** for f***ing poor people." This recording became the basis for the lawsuit from former employee Robert Garza, who claims he was fired for informing about Balle's comments.
Garza, who worked as an analyst in Campbell's headquarters in New Jersey, recorded Balle's comments when they were discussing his resignation. In Balle's recording, it is also mentioned that "the company's meat comes from a 3D printer," which provoked outrage.
After the meeting, Garza decided to inform Balle's superior about Balle's behavior, but 20 days later he was fired. In the lawsuit, he states that the company did not take any actions in response to his complaints, leaving him without work for 10 months.
Campbell's has already announced that Balle has been temporarily suspended from work while an investigation is ongoing. They also emphasize that they will source humanely raised meat, assuring that they will supply products from verified suppliers.
The Florida Attorney General confirmed that an investigation into the situation has begun, stating that the company must provide clarification.
