Call for Acceptance of a Ceasefire Plan in Sudan
- The USA has called on Sudan to accept a ceasefire proposal without conditions.
- The conflict has been ongoing for over two years, causing a humanitarian crisis.
- RSF announced a temporary ceasefire, but fighting continues.
The US envoy for African affairs, Mike Hammer, called on Sudanese generals to accept an international proposal for a ceasefire "without preconditions." This statement was made on November 25, 2025, against the backdrop of rising diplomatic tensions, as the conflict in Sudan has already lasted over two years.
The latest ceasefire proposal was presented by the US, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. However, it was not approved. Sudanese army general Abdel Fattah al-Burhan rejected it, calling it "unacceptable," just as RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo announced a temporary humanitarian ceasefire for three months. This occurred against the backdrop of new fighting in the city of Babandus, where the army reported that it had repelled an RSF attack.
Boulos emphasized that both sides had not accepted the text of the ceasefire proposal. He drew attention to the humanitarian crisis, which, according to the words of the UN, is the largest in the world. According to Amnesty International, RSF is accused of committing war crimes, including extrajudicial killings.
The conflict, which has been ongoing since April 2023, has claimed tens of thousands of lives and led to mass displacement of the population. Diplomatic efforts have not yielded results, and both sides have repeatedly violated ceasefire agreements.
