The Court Demands the Justice Ministry Provide Information on the Epstein Case
- The court has ordered the Ministry of Justice to provide details regarding the release of materials in the Epstein case.
- The FBI and the Ministry of Justice are working on additional disclosures of information from Epstein's files.
- According to the new law, the Ministry of Justice is required to submit documents by December 19.
This was reported by ABC News, ABC News.
A federal judge in Manhattan instructed the Ministry of Justice of the USA to provide more information regarding the materials they plan to release in the case of Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Judge Paul A. Engelmayer emphasized the necessity of providing details about the documents that are subject to release by the end of November 29.
This request became known after the Ministry of Justice appealed to the court seeking permission to release materials that were previously under seal. Engelmayer noted that government lawyers must submit a letter describing the materials to "meaningfully inform the victims" about what is planned for release.
Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in 2021 for charges related to sex trafficking and is currently serving a 20-year sentence. Jeffrey Epstein, a billionaire with connections to many prominent individuals, died by suicide in custody in 2019.
In addition to this, the Ministry of Justice also received a request for expedited processing of information related to its decision not to release materials earlier this year. The court indicated to expedite the consideration of the request for access to documents that reflect the actions of the Ministry of Justice in the Epstein case.
The FBI is working with the Ministry of Justice to determine the possibility of disclosing additional information from Epstein's files. FBI Director Christopher Wray stated that there are protective orders that prohibit the disclosure of information related to any investigations that fall under judicial jurisdiction.
Along with the new law "On the Transparency of Epstein's Files," adopted by Congress, the Ministry of Justice is required to submit documents by December 19. The court confirmed that the victims and Maxwell may submit their responses to the Ministry of Justice's request by December 3.
