Donald Trump stated that his plan for ending the war in Ukraine was "understood." He is sending his representative Stephen Vitkoff for a meeting with Vladimir Putin, as well as Secretary of the Army Dena Driscoll for negotiations with Ukrainian officials. Despite the optimism of the Republican Party, progress on key issues remains limited. Trump noted that his son Jared Kushner may join Vitkoff for a meeting with Putin, scheduled for next week in Moscow.

Trump also distanced himself from his previous term's deadline for Ukraine regarding the acceptance of a peace plan, stating that "the deadline for me - is when everything is finalized." He reduced the significance of an element of the plan that provides for the transfer of Ukrainian territory to Russia, asserting that Russian troops, likely, have already captured this land.

Currently, Russian troops have launched a mass drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, resulting in 12 people injured and several buildings destroyed. This occurred after a missile barrage, resulting in the deaths of seven people in Kyiv. In addition, NATO aircraft were seen in the airspace for the supervision of two Russian drones that crossed the airspace of Romania.

In Southern Africa, investigations have begun regarding the former president Jacob Zuma, who is accused of having recruited 17 people for the war in Ukraine under the guise of training in Russia. According to police, these individuals were transferred to a Russian mercenary group and forced to participate in the conflict. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Southern Africa reported that diplomatic efforts are being made to return these individuals home.
