A special budget for Taiwan's arms procurement has been announced

Taipei, Taiwan — Minister of Defense of Taiwan Chiu Kuo-cheng announced that the government of the island will present a special budget amounting to 40 billion dollars for arms procurement. This decision has been made against the backdrop of the USA, which encourages Taiwan to increase its spending on defense.

The budget will be aimed at acquiring new defense systems, including from the USA, the largest non-official ally of Taiwan.
