Japan Strengthens Ties with the USA to Counter China

Japan plans to bolster its ties with the United States to counter the information warfare led by China concerning Taiwan. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida emphasized the importance of the alliance with the USA during a telephone conversation with President Trump on November 25, 2025.

This conversation took place against the backdrop of rising military activity between China and Taiwan, where Taiwan announced an increase in defense spending by 40 billion dollars to counter the Chinese threat. President of Taiwan Lai Ching-te stated that national security is a priority, and that compromises with aggression only lead to war.

Japan is also reacting to the increasing military activity of China, particularly regarding China's plans concerning the annexation of Taiwan. Meanwhile, China revealed Japan's plans to deploy missiles on the island of Yonaguni, which is located near Taiwan.

In response to this, Japan reaffirms its defense policy, asserting that its actions are exclusively defensive and that it will not accept China's pretense of superiority over facts.
