Ukraine is considering a peace plan from the USA without conditions

Ukraine is ready to consider the peace plan from the Trump administration, but is categorically rejecting three main requirements: limiting the size of the Armed Forces, the withdrawal of territories in Donbas, and rejecting the intention to join NATO, CNN reports.

US President Donald Trump described the results of the negotiations as "great progress," while Secretary of State Mark Rubio called them "very positive," noting that "there are still questions that remain unresolved." During a meeting of US military representatives with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi, it was also stated that "Ukrainians have agreed to a peace deal," although some technical details still remain unresolved.

According to the information, there are primarily three key issues, which have serious discrepancies. The first concerns territory: it pertains to a part of Donbas, including the "fortified belt" of cities, which are important for the security of the region. The second is the size of the army; the USA has proposed to limit the military to 600 thousand soldiers, but Kyiv is aiming for a higher number and additional changes. The third is the rejection of the intention to join NATO, which the Ukrainian side considers unacceptable.

Trump also stated that Europe will be actively involved in security guarantees for Ukraine within the framework of the US peace plan, which envisions conflict resolution.

Recently, the US peace plan, developed in cooperation with Russia, caused concern in Kyiv and Europe. As a result, negotiations took place in Geneva, where Ukrainian, European, and American delegations concluded that the plan would be approved by Ukraine after the term established by the USA on November 27. It is noted that the plan was to be revised and shortened to 19 points, of which there were selected provisions on territories and the reduction of the army.

French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that Ukraine needs reliable guarantees, not formal commitments, recalling previous commitments that were violated by Russia.
