The Mother of Press Secretary Karlin Levitt Has Been Arrested

A woman who is the mother of Press Secretary Karlin Levitt has been detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Massachusetts. Bruna Karolina Ferriera, the mother of Levitt, was arrested on November 12, 2025, in Revere, Massachusetts, during a period of increased immigration enforcement actions by the Trump administration.

Ferriera, a Brazilian national, according to a representative from the Department of Homeland Security, has been living in the U.S. illegally, as her tourist visa expired in June 1999. She also has a previous arrest for domestic violence. Currently, the woman is located at the ICE processing center in Southern Louisiana.

Reports indicate that Levitt lives in New Hampshire with her father and has not been in contact with her mother. The Ferriera family has created a campaign on GoFundMe to raise funds for legal expenses, as the state of the woman has caused concern.

Ferriera had previously been a participant in the DACA program, which provides temporary protection from deportation for those who were brought to the U.S. as children. However, she was unable to renew her status during the Trump administration's efforts to terminate the program.

A DHS representative stated that individuals who are living in the country illegally are subject to deportation, and DACA status does not provide automatic protection from this.
