Overview of Possible Kevin Durant Trade Options

  • Kevin Durant is discussing a potential trade with several teams, including Houston and San Antonio.
  • Negotiations may intensify ahead of the NBA draft scheduled for June.
  • Durant has the option to sign a new two-year contract following a trade.

This was reported by ESPN, L'Équipe.

Phoenix Suns and Kevin Durant's business partner, Boardroom CEO Rich Kleiman, held several meetings last week to discuss potential trade options, as reported by ESPN.

Among the teams showing interest in Durant are the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks. In recent days, several unexpected contenders have also emerged.

Discussions between the Suns' representatives and Kleiman are expected to continue, with negotiations likely ramping up before the NBA draft, which will take place on June 25-26. Durant, who has a contract worth $54.7 million for the 2025-26 season, is also considering signing a long-term deal.

After a potential trade, Durant could sign a new two-year contract worth up to $112 million starting July 6. If he waits six months after the trade, the amount could increase to $124 million.

Currently, Durant, who reached his 15th All-Star team this season, has averages of 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists over 62 games. The Suns finished the season with a record of 36-46 and underwent management changes, including a new general manager, Brian Gregory, and a new head coach, Jordan Ott, who previously worked with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Durant joined the Suns in a trade in February 2023, and his average of 26.8 points per game with the new team is the highest in franchise history.
