Marseille Signs Angel Gomes and Hopes for CJ Egan-Riley

  • Marseille has signed a three-year deal with Angel Gomes.
  • The club plans to sign defender CJ Egan-Riley, who has left Burnley.
  • The management hopes that Egan-Riley will choose the team due to participation in the Champions League.

This was reported by The Independent, L'Équipe.

The club Marseille has confirmed that they have reached a "principle agreement" with English midfielder Angel Gomes. Gomes, who left Lille after his contract ended, has signed a three-year deal with the club.

The 24-year-old player arrived in Marseille for a medical examination. He previously played for Manchester United, but was unable to establish himself in the first team.

Together with Gomes, the club hopes to sign another player – defender CJ Egan-Riley, who left Burnley after rejecting a new contract offer. Egan-Riley, a product of the Manchester City academy, also intends to join Marseille.

The club's management, including president Pablo Longoria, hopes that Egan-Riley will choose Marseille due to the opportunity to play in the Champions League. The club intends to sign two more defenders, as last season revealed weaknesses in the defense.
