This is reported by Ukrayinska Pravda, RBC Ukraine.
Transformation of the Airport
Russian troops are converting the airport in Kerch, located in the temporarily occupied Crimea, into a military base for launching Shahed drones. According to the project Skhemy, satellite images show changes in the airport's infrastructure since February 2025.
The images reveal new fortifications and camouflage structures intended for military purposes. Experts believe these structures may serve as bases for storing and launching drones.
Use of Drones
Russia actively uses kamikaze drones to attack Ukraine. For instance, on the night of June 10, 2025, 315 strike drones were launched, most of which targeted Kyiv.
Drones also attacked the Odesa region, where a maternity hospital was hit, but there were no casualties.
Other Details
It is noted that on March 4, 2025, Russian authorities granted the Ministry of Defense of Russia indefinite use of part of the airport's land. Previously, this area was used for parking trucks, but in March 2025, it was repurposed for other functions.
The last regular passenger flight from Kerch airport took place in 2007.
