- Anker has recalled over a million power banks due to the risk of fire.
- Consumers are advised to return the hazardous devices to specialized waste collection centers.

This was reported by Engadget, ZDNet.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of Anker PowerCore 10000 power banks, model A1263, due to the risk of battery overheating. This could lead to fires and burns.
Anker has received 19 reports of fires and explosions, including two cases of minor burns and 11 cases of property damage totaling over $60,700.
According to the data, the recall affects 1,158,000 devices that were sold in the U.S. through Amazon, Newegg, and eBay from June 2016 to December 2022. To check if you have this specific device, look at the back where it should read "Anker PowerCore 10000" with the model number "A1263".
What to Do with the Hazardous Device
Do not throw the power bank in the trash or in battery recycling bins. The CPSC recommends returning the device to a local hazardous waste collection center. If you need help finding a center, you can use resources from the EPA.
Another option is to work directly with Anker. The company offers either a $30 gift card or a replacement with the new Power Bank 10K, model A1388. To do this, you will need to follow several steps, including providing photos of the device and documentation.
Return instructions can be found on the Anker website. You will need to provide the model number, serial number, name, contact information, and other details for verification.
Previous Anker Recalls
This is not the first product recall by Anker in the past year. In June 2024, the company recalled three different products, and in September of the same year, the 334 MagGo power bank. In December of last year, a recall was announced for Soundcore Bluetooth speakers.
All these recalls are related to fire hazards. Anker has not provided official comments regarding the causes of the battery issues.
