Support for Ukraine as a Core European Value
The recognition of the necessity to assist Ukraine in achieving a just and lasting peace has become a central theme in Europe. This was stated by the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, during his speech at the 20th anniversary GLOBSEC forum in Prague.
Sybiha noted that during discussions at the forum, all participants expressed the view on the importance of supporting Ukraine’s efforts to end the war, with an emphasis on achieving a just peace and continuing pressure on Russia. "This is the main line of thought in Europe, and it was important for me to hear this," the minister said.
The GLOBSEC forum, taking place from June 12 to 14, gathered countries sharing similar views. Sybiha emphasized that participation in this event and bilateral meetings with colleagues were extremely important for Ukraine, especially ahead of key events such as the G7, NATO, and Ukraine-EU summits.
"Ukraine has high hopes from these events regarding decisions that will bring us closer to a just and lasting peace," he added.
Sybiha also noted that the GLOBSEC forum is one of the largest and most prestigious security forums in this part of Europe, regularly gathering influential figures, politicians, and state officials to discuss key global challenges.
He thanked the Czech Republic for organizing the conference and supporting Ukraine, noting that the highest level of bilateral dialogue has been achieved with the Czech Republic.
Visit to the Czech Republic to Enhance International Support
On June 13, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, embarked on a working visit to the Czech Republic at the invitation of his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavsky. During the visit, he will participate in the international GLOBSEC-2025 forum, where he will speak at a panel discussion dedicated to Russian aggression against Ukraine and the prospects for achieving a just peace.
The minister plans to draw the international community's attention to the terror from Russia, its refusal to ceasefire, and the necessity to increase pressure on the aggressor. Bilateral meetings with colleagues, representatives from Latin America and the Middle East, as well as with representatives of Czech civil society and the Ukrainian community in the Czech Republic are also planned.
Sybiha noted that the visit is an important opportunity for Ukraine to enhance international support in the context of the ongoing war.
