Art Train in Ukraine
The Ukrainian Railways "Ukrzaliznytsia" has launched an art train featuring a photo exhibition by Howard Buffett, which will travel to 63 railway stations across Ukraine. This was announced by the press service of UZ.
This train is more than just transportation. It is a traveling gallery, created with the support of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, and it has embarked on a four-month journey. The exhibition "Courage of a Nation" presents works by American photographer and philanthropist Howard Buffett that reflect the resilience of Ukrainians.
The concept of the train was developed by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Muhammad Muheisen. The specially refurbished carriages are accompanied by unique lighting and musical arrangements.
Currently, the train is in Odesa, where it will remain until June 17, but the exact schedule of its movement is not disclosed for security reasons.
Exhibition in Odesa
The presentation of the world's first gallery train, which features exhibitions dedicated to the war in Ukraine, took place in Odesa. The exhibition includes photographs taken by Howard Buffett during his travels in Ukraine amid the full-scale invasion.
Chairman of the Board of "Ukrzaliznytsia" Oleksandr Pertsoevskyi and other Ukrainian public figures attended the event. Buffett and Muhammad Muheisen signed the carriage.
"This project is unique. Art trains have never existed during wartime. Thanks to the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, we have restored carriages that were unsuitable for passenger transport and filled them with images that touch every heart," Pertsoevskyi noted.
Admission to the exhibition is free, and visitors can book a time in advance to avoid queues. To receive an electronic invitation, registration on the official website is required.
Since 2022, the Howard G. Buffett Foundation has provided over $1 billion in aid to Ukraine, supporting recovery efforts such as demining and humanitarian assistance.
