Tadej Pogacar Wins the Sixth Stage of the Dauphiné
Tadej Pogacar claimed victory in the sixth stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné, which took place on June 13, 2025. In this race, he donned the yellow jersey again, regaining his lead in the overall standings.
Pogacar finished with a lead of 1 minute and 1 second over the Dane Jonas Vingegaard, who placed second in the stage. This victory marked the 97th in the Slovenian's career, allowing him to tie with French sprinter Arnaud Démare for the number of wins.
Thanks to this success, Pogacar has a lead of 43 seconds over Vingegaard, 54 seconds over the German Florian Lipowitz, and 1 minute and 22 seconds over the Belgian Remco Evenepoel, who previously led the overall standings.
Pogacar had already worn the yellow jersey in this 77th edition of the Dauphiné when he won the first stage last week. "I am very happy to be back in yellow. It was a very good day for us," he said after the race.
On Friday, under the scorching sun, Pogacar avenged his loss to Vingegaard on the Côte de Domancy, where he lost time during the 2023 Tour de France. He showcased his strength by accelerating 7 km from the finish, leaving his competitors behind.
This stage was crucial for Pogacar ahead of defending his title at the Tour de France, especially after his disappointing performance in the time trial on Wednesday. The next stage, dubbed the royal stage, will take place from Grand-Aigle Blanche to Valmeinier 1800 over a distance of 132 km.
