Charges of Attempted Murder
Former NFL player Antonio Brown is under investigation for attempted murder charges following a shooting that occurred on May 16, 2025, near an amateur boxing event in the Little Haiti area of Miami. According to the arrest warrant, Brown, 36, allegedly took a gun from a security staff member and shot a man with whom he had previously fought.
The victim, Zul-Karnain Kwame Nantambu, told investigators that one of the bullets passed near his neck. A judge signed an arrest warrant for Brown, stating that the charges pertain to second-degree attempted murder, with a possible penalty of 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Events Leading Up to the Incident
At the time of the incident, Brown was at the boxing event where, according to eyewitness accounts, a conflict occurred involving him. Police received reports of gunfire, and several witnesses identified Brown as the shooter. Although Brown was arrested, no weapon was found on him, but two shell casings were discovered at the scene.
After reviewing surveillance footage, law enforcement officials found that Brown struck another man, leading to the fight. The video also showed him taking the gun from a security staff member before shooting Nantambu.
