Russian Su-25 Crashes in Ukraine, Likely Due to Friendly Fire

On June 13, 2025, a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft crashed in the Donetsk region. According to the Telegram channel Fighterbomber, the plane was likely shot down by its own crew member.

Ilya Tumanov, a blogger, reported that the aircraft crashed during a combat sortie. In a video he published, the moment of the fall is visible.

According to him, the pilot suffered an arm injury and is currently in the hospital. A commission is investigating the causes of the incident.

The OSINT analyst AviVector confirmed this information, noting that two Su-25s took off from the Taganrog-Central airbase and were conducting missions towards Vuhledar–Avdiivka.

Meanwhile, OSINTtechnical reported that the aircraft was likely shot down by missiles fired by its crew member.

Friendly Fire in Russia

This incident is not isolated. Earlier reports indicated incidents of friendly fire, including the accidental shooting down of a Russian Mi-8MTV-5 helicopter by its own forces.

Ukrainian Air Force communications specialist Yuriy Ignat noted that such cases are becoming increasingly prevalent among Russian military personnel.
