This is reported by The Independent, BBC.
Sam Burns emerged as the club leader at the US Open, showcasing an impressive performance on the challenging Oakmont course on Friday.
The Ryder Cup 2023 player reached five strokes under par, finishing the round with 65 strokes, which brought his overall score to three strokes under par.
He trailed only one stroke behind the first-round leader J.J. Spaun, who began his round on Friday.
Oakmont, known for its tough conditions, tested many top players, but Burns managed to adapt.
After the first round with two strokes over par, he completed the first half of the second round without any mistakes, earning four birdies.
Although he dropped a stroke on the tenth, Burns quickly recovered, scoring birdies again on the second and fourth holes.
"I wasn't thinking about the scores, as the course is too tough to evaluate what a good score is," Burns said.
Masters winner Scottie Scheffler finished the round with 71 strokes, losing five strokes but still remaining within the qualifying score for the tournament.
Brooks Koepka, a two-time US Open champion, fell to two strokes over par after a difficult second round with five birdies.
Spanish player Jon Rahm, who had a poor performance on Friday, lagged behind the leaders after a round of five strokes over par.
Norwegian player Viktor Hovland also had a good showing, finishing with 68 strokes, keeping him at one stroke under par.
Overall, only four out of 78 players in the morning group posted scores below par on another challenging day at Oakmont.
