Bell was convicted in 1995 for the murders of Jimmy West and Tameka Smith. In December 1993, he saw a car that he believed belonged to the man who shot his brother earlier that year. Bell was unaware that the car had been sold to West.

According to law enforcement, Bell called two friends and armed himself with an AK-47 rifle. They waited for West, Smith, and another woman to exit the club. Bell approached the car and opened fire. West died on the spot, while Smith died during transport to the hospital. The other woman was unharmed. Witnesses reported that Bell also shot into the crowd before fleeing the scene.

Additional crimes

Later, Bell was convicted of three more murders. He shot a woman and her baby in 1989, and he also killed his mother's boyfriend about four months before the attack on West and Smith.
