Strengthening Fortifications in Sumy Region Due to Attacks

Over the last 24 hours, Russian troops carried out nearly 70 shelling attacks on 21 settlements in the Sumy region. This was reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration on June 14, 2025.

From the morning of June 13 to the morning of June 14, Russian forces struck nine territorial communities in the region, with the most shelling recorded in the Sumy district. There were no casualties.

The enemy actively used drones to drop munitions, with about 30 drops and nearly 10 strikes from guided aerial bombs recorded. Attacks were also conducted with FPV drones and UAVs on civilian infrastructure, including damage to private homes in the Sumy community and a civilian infrastructure facility in the Popiv community.

Throughout the day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, National Police, and community organizations from border communities, evacuated 40 individuals.

Additionally, on June 13, Russian troops attacked the Bilopillia community in the Sumy region, resulting in the city losing electricity.

Strengthening the Defense of Sumy Region

In order to strengthen defense in the Sumy region, plans are underway to mobilize additional forces and resources due to the intensifying Russian attacks. This was announced by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleg Grygorov, on June 13.

At a meeting of the regional defense council, priority tasks were identified to enhance defense capabilities, including the construction of fortifications and protection of critical facilities using anti-explosion nets.

Additionally, 8 million hryvnias have been allocated for the purchase of drones for Ukrainian defenders in the Sumy direction. Measures to strengthen the region's air defense were also discussed.

Grygorov noted that additional needs for air defense units have been identified, and funds have been directed towards the acquisition of necessary equipment.
