Iran Considers Talks with the US Meaningless After Israeli Attack

  • Iran considers dialogue with the US impossible following the Israeli attack.
  • Tehran accused Washington of supporting Israel's military actions.
  • Planned talks in Oman are in question due to the escalation of the conflict.

This was reported by The Yomiuri Shimbun, Asharq Al-Awsat.

Iran on Talks with the US

June 14, 2025, Cairo (Reuters) – Iran stated that negotiations with the US regarding its nuclear program have become "meaningless" following the largest military attack by Israel on the country. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated that the "other side" (the US) has taken actions that make dialogue impossible.

He accused Washington of supporting Israeli attacks, claiming that without US approval, this attack would not have occurred. Baghaei also noted that Israel has "successfully influenced" the diplomatic process.

Prospects for Negotiations

Planned talks between the US and Iran were supposed to take place on Sunday in Oman; however, their conduct is now in question due to the Israeli strikes. Baghaei did not confirm the cancellation of the meeting, stating that it has yet to be decided whether Iran will participate in the talks.

Iran denies that its uranium enrichment program has military objectives, asserting that it is intended solely for civilian purposes. US President Donald Trump noted that his team was aware of the upcoming Israeli attacks but still sees a possibility for reaching an agreement.
