Zelensky Appoints New Head of Ukraine's Mission to NATO
- Alona Hetmanchuk has been appointed as the new head of Ukraine's mission to NATO.
- Natalia Halibarenko has been relieved of her duties after three years in office.
- Hetmanchuk has experience in international relations and academic work.

Appointment of the New Head of Ukraine's Mission to NATO
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree appointing Alona Hetmanchuk as the new head of Ukraine's mission to NATO. The relevant decree No. 408/2025 was published on the president's website.
According to another decree (No. 407/2025), Zelensky dismissed Natalia Halibarenko from this position. Halibarenko held the position since July 30, 2021.
Alona Hetmanchuk is the founder and director of the New Europe Center. In 2009, she co-founded the Institute of World Policy, which she led for eight years. Since 2016, she has been a member of the Advisory Committee of the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland. Since March 2022, Hetmanchuk has been a senior fellow at the Eurasia Center of the Atlantic Council.
Natalia Halibarenko also has significant experience in diplomatic service. She served as Ukraine's ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2015 to 2020 and as the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine from 2014 to 2015.
The decision to appoint Hetmanchuk as Ukraine's representative to NATO was approved by Zelensky back in December 2024.
