Zelensky Informed About the Situation with Patriot Systems for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Patriot system, which Israel sent to the USA for restoration, has not yet arrived in Ukraine. During a conversation with journalists on June 13, he noted that he received a signal regarding the possibility of acquiring older models of the Patriot system.

Zelensky confirmed that he had previously agreed with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the possibility of purchasing the Barak-8 system, which serves as an alternative to the American systems. According to the president, after the Hamas attack, Ukraine did not raise the issue of acquiring air defense systems, as Israel focused on its internal affairs.

He also mentioned that the Patriot system, which could be restored, has not yet appeared on Ukrainian territory. "We had information about the possibility of receiving four older models. However, one of the systems was transferred by Israel to the USA for restoration, and we have not seen it here yet," Zelensky emphasized.

Patriot Systems for Ukraine

It should be noted that Ukraine already has Patriot systems provided by partners, including Germany. The first combat launch of this system in Ukraine took place in the spring of 2023.

Patriot systems are crucial for Ukraine as they are capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles. Ukraine has repeatedly appealed to its partners to strengthen air defense and provide more Patriot systems.
