Developing Ukraine's Ballistic Missile Program

The development of ballistic missiles in Ukraine is a priority for the Ministry of Defense. According to Deputy Minister of Defense Anatoliy Klachko, active work is underway on systems capable of striking deep behind enemy lines.

Klachko noted that the issue of Ukrainian ballistic systems is currently being considered out of turn, as it holds the highest priority in the defense sector. "A lot has been done, an enormous amount of work has been carried out. The President (Volodymyr Zelensky) has already mentioned this. Finally, more attention is being paid to Ukrainian ballistic systems. This issue is not first, second, or third in line — it is out of turn," Klachko said.

The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that internal ballistic capabilities relate not only to technologies but also to Ukraine's ability to strike strategic enemy targets.

Ukrainian Ballistic Missile Program

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff. The meeting discussed the supply of Ukrainian brigades and the formation of units, as well as a detailed review of the Ukrainian missile program.

Oleksandr Kamyshin, presidential advisor on strategic industries, noted that Ukrainian ballistic missiles are now being produced serially.

German Smetanin, Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, confirmed that this weapon is being used every month.

Sapsan Missile

During a press briefing, President Zelensky announced that Ukraine is actively preparing for mass production of ballistic missiles known as Sapsan. "We held many meetings today regarding guided aerial bombs, drones, fiber optics, and other topics. We also discussed missiles," he noted.

Zelensky added that successful tests of the weapon had already taken place earlier, and now the focus is on scaling up production. He did not disclose details for security reasons.

Sapsan is a Ukrainian operational-tactical ballistic missile system developed by a group of defense industry enterprises. This system is designed to hit targets at long distances, such as command posts, ammunition depots, military equipment, and enemy airfields.
